Jen Rasmussen, owner of Paradise Nectar Apiary, is amazing with bees.  She is the go-to person in Puna for anything you know about pesticide- free beekeeping, and she also teaches beekeeping at U.H. Hilo. I am learning at lot about maintaining my beehive (source of wax for encaustic) and of course, delicious honey, and other products!  

Here is a photo of honey comb from my top bar hive, when I checked out for the first time, to make sure it was progressing with no problems.
