Holyoke, Massachusetts was a planned paper mill city on the banks of the Connecticut River, using Hadley Falls for power.  The City  also has canal and railway systems. During the late 19th Century it produced most of the writing paper used in the US.  These photographs were taken in the early 20th century, when the City was in a decline.
